CLINTON, N.Y. -- In a back-and-forth competition between a pair of nationally-ranked foes, it would be No. 25 Hamilton College coming away with the win as the host Continentals defeated No. 22 Bates College, 5-4, Sunday in the Little Squash Center.
Hamilton improves to 4-6 with the victory. The Bobcats move to 3-6 after a third-straight setback.
Dennis Welte triumphed via shutout (11-9, 11-6, 11-5) in the sophomore's match vs. Jacob Shulman at No. 1. Senior captain
Ashton Monteiro needed four games (11-6, 11-9, 13-15, 12-10) to dismiss Atreyus Bhavsar at No. 2, as did
Tanish Tangri (Fy.) at No. 7 vs. Cooper Jessup (11-7, 12-10, 6-11, 11-8).
Oscar Hecker (Fy.) went the distance in his respective showing, holding off Tobey Suratt at No. 3 (11-4, 7-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-3).
Bates will see action for a third-consecutive day as the garnet and white prepares to host No. 14 Monday at 5:00 p.m. in the Bates Squash Center.
