BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Senior captain,
Leah White, shined for the Bates women's cross country team Saturday, placing second out of 119 finishers at the Maine State Meet, held at Bowdoin's Pickard Field.
White completed the 6K course with a sizzling time of 21:47.21, trailing individual champion,
Lila Garbett (21:42.09) of the University of Maine by mere seconds. The Bobcats, as a team, enjoyed a third-place showing (51 points) behind first-place Bowdoin (35 points) and UMaine (44).
First-year
Maeve Ginevan, who paced the Bobcats with a sixth-place showing in last week's CBB Meet, grabbed a seventh-place mark of 22:26.53. Fellow first-year,
Lily Day, recorded a 10th-place time of 22:39.39.
Junior captain,
Gwendolyn Anderson, took 15th overall at 22:59.51. First-year
Annalise Wood (17th, 23:05.57), and sophomores
Mikayla Ferguson (32nd, 23:30.03) and
Kyra Buckley (33rd, 23:34.84), rounded out the Bobcats' Top-7 finishers on the day.
Bates will return to competition on Friday, Oct. 3 with an appearance at the Lehigh University Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa.
