BLOOMFIELD, Conn. -- The Bates men's golf team tied rival Bowdoin for eighth place out of 16 teams at the two-day Trinity/Hartford Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at Tumble Brook Country Club.
Senior captain
Will Phillips (Portland, Ore.) led the way for Bates, tying for 12th out of 85 individuals at seven over par. He had a particularly strong day on Saturday, shooting a 73. He followed that up with a 78 for a two-day tally of 151, just nine strokes back of medalist honors.
First-year
Sean Resnick (Walpole, Mass.) finished just one stroke back of Phillips at eight over par, good for a tie for 14th place. He fired back-to-back rounds of 76.
Senior captain
Freddie Curtis (Harvard, Mass.) also finished in the top 50, tying for 43rd at 14 over par. He turned in a strong performance on Sunday, taking four strokes off his first-day score of 81 to shoot a 77.
As a team, the Bobcats shot 308 on Saturday, good for fourth place through 18 holes. They followed that up with a 315 on Sunday.
Bates men's golf is back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Tim Brown Invitational, being held at Ballston Spa Country Club.
