BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Bates men's golf sophomore
Sean Resnick shot a brilliant round on Sunday to take fourth place out of 97 golfers at the Bowdoin Invitational, held this weekend at Brunswick Golf Club.
Resnick (Walpole, Mass.) finished with a 74 on Saturday, good for two over par. He recorded four birdies and four bogeys, but a double bogey on hole 14 prevented him from finishing the round at even par.
That was not an issue on Sunday, as he shot a two-under-par 70. Resnick birdied three holes and recorded just one bogey. He also avoided trouble on 14, parring the hole.
Combined, Resnick finished at even par, just two strokes back of medalist honors. His two-under-par performance on Sunday was the second lowest round of the weekend by any golfer in the tournament.
As a team, the Bobcats finished in eighth place out of 17 schools in the field, seven strokes back of a tie for sixth.
Junior
Arthur Jenkins (Shreveport, La.) showed the most dramatic improvement from Saturday to Sunday, going from 10 over par on Saturday to shooting an even-par 72 on Sunday. He notched a pair of birdies and moved up 45 spots on the leader board to finish tied for 34th place. First-year
Malin Adams (Litchfield, Conn.) also finished in the top 40, taking 39th place with rounds of 78 and 77.
The Bobcats are back in action in two weeks at the 54-hole Skidmore Invitational, being held Oct. 11 and 12 at Saratoga Spa State Park.
