Henry Ehrlich and junior
Arthur Jenkins tied for 24th out of 79 competitors to pace the Bates men's golf team at the Williams Fall Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at Taconic Golf Club.
The Bobcats placed 12th out of 15 schools overall in the three-round tournament, as the teams played 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday.
Bates started strong, with Ehrlich (Portland, Ore.) shooting an even-par 71 over the first 18 holes. Jenkins (Shreveport, La.) was just four strokes back after shooting a 75. Each player recorded three birdies in the opening round, with sophomore
Sean Resnick (Walpole, Mass.) not far behind after shooting a 77 while recording a pair of birdies.
The second 18 holes on Saturday did not go as well for the Bobcats, with Jenkins tallying a 78 to lead the way. Sophomore
Stanley Viny (Rutland, Ohio) recorded a pair of birdies on his way to an 80.
On Sunday, first-year
Malin Adams (Litchfield, Conn.) had the best round of the weekend for Bates, shooting a one-under-par 70. He eagled hole one and recorded three birdies on the day. Jenkins shot a 75 while Ehrlich checked in with a 76.
The Bobcats are back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Bowdoin Invitational, held at Brunswick Golf Club.
