MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Bates women's track and field team opened their outdoor season Saturday at the Wesleyan Swanson Invitational, turning in a number of impressive performances at the non-scoring meet.
Meet Highlights
- First-year Madison Alves (Stoneham, Mass.) took second out of 36 competitors in the 100-meter dash in 12.75 seconds, good for a tie for ninth on the Bates all-time performance list. She also finished fourth out of 62 athletes in the 200-meter dash in 26.30 seconds.
- Sophomore Lia Traficonte (Cumberland, Maine) placed third out of 28 runners in the 400 meters in 1:01.10.
- First-year Juno Rogers (Decatur, Ga.) took second out of 20 athletes in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.87 seconds, good for 10th on the Bates all-time performance list. Rogers was also second in the high jump with a top clearance of 5-0.25 (1.53m).
- First-year Graca Bila (Westbrook, Maine) finished second out of 18 runners in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.99.
- Senior Rosie McKerley (Coventry, Conn.) and sophomore Jasmine Gray (Newton, Pa.) both cleared the bar in the pole vault at 9-2.25 (2.80m), good for a tie for 10th on the Bates all-time performance list.
- Sophomore Alannah Ardrey (New York City) placed fifth out of 24 athletes in the long jump at 16-10 (5.13m).
- First-year Marie-Ève Maillet (Saint-Antoine, New Brunswick) took seventh in the shot put with a top heave of 36-4.25 (11.08m), good for eighth on the Bates all-time performance list.
The Bobcats are back in action next Saturday, with track athletes headed to Bryant University for the Black & Gold Invitational and field athletes competing at the Southern New Hampshire Spring Invite.
