MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The men's track and field team got their outdoor season started Saturday at the Wesleyan Swanson Invitational, turning in 14 top-8 performances at the non-scoring meet.
Meet Highlights
- Sophomore Evan Berthiaume (East Greenwich, R.I.) placed eighth out of 54 runners in the 100-meter dash in 11.29 seconds and eighth out of 70 runners in the 200-meter dash in 22.78 seconds.Â
- Sophomore Eli Terrell (Barrington, R.I.) won his section and grabbed eighth out of 19 runners overall in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.63 seconds.
- First-year Andrew Batista (Roselle Park, N.J.) led a 5-6-7 Bates finish in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 12-5.5 (3.80m).
- First-year Nick Nicolazzo IV (Wellesley, Mass.) took third in the long jump with a leap of 21-3.25 (6.48m) and Terrell finished sixth at 21-1.5 (6.44m).
- Sophomore Matt Charpentier (Cape Neddick, Maine) won the shot put with a top effort of 49-8.5 (15.15m) and finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 139-2 (42.41m).
- First-year Ryan Glaser (Rockport, Maine) finished third in the hammer throw with a top heave of 152-3 (46.40m) and finished seventh in the discus with a throw of 131-4 (40.03m).
The Bobcats are back in action next Saturday, with track athletes headed to Bryant University for the Black & Gold Invitational and field athletes competing at the Southern New Hampshire Spring Invite.
