HANOVER, N.H. -- Sophomore
Eske Roennau continued his strong season by taking 24th place out of 85 competitors in the men's 7.5K classical technique race Friday at the Dartmouth Carnival.
Roennau (Aspen, Colo.) raced to the finish in 23:01.10, earning the Bobcats 21 carnival points and picking up nine NCAA points as well for his performance. Two other Bobcats also finished in the top 50 of the men's race, with senior
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) placing 45th in 23:52.30 and first-year
Oliver Wilson (Dublin, N.H.) landed in 49th in 24:01.80, earning Bates 13 and 12 carnival points, respectively.
On the women's side, first-year
Greta Hendrickson (Duluth, Minn.) led the way for the Bobcats, taking 58th place out of 90 collegiate skiers with a time of 28:12.50, earning seven carnival points. Senior captain
Nina Chosy (Madison, Wis.) and first-year
Hannah Grohman (Biddeford, Maine) rounded out the scoring for Bates in 60th and 70th place respectively.
Combined, the Bates Nordic and alpine skiing teams tallied 128 carnival points on day one of the Dartmouth Carnival. The two teams are back in action again Saturday, with the Nordic skiing teams competing in the 20K freestyle race at Oak Hill starting at 10 a.m.
