ORLANDO, Fla. -- Bates College men's tennis closed out an action-packed Thursday with an afternoon tilt vs. Division II Florida Southern College at the USTA National Campus.
The Mocs, ranked No. 14 in the ITA/NCAA Division II national poll, defeated the Bobcats by a 7-0 score to improve to 2-2 on the spring. Bates, which opened the day with a match vs. DII Saint Leo University, drops to 0-3 to start the spring campaign.
Florida Southern grabbed the initial point of the contest with a sweep in doubles play.
At No. 1 doubles, the FSC tandem of Chris Fok Kow (Sr.-Balaclava, Mauritius) and Mario Garoz (Jr.-Toledo, Spain) recorded a 6-4 victory over
Phillippe Kosyagin and
Theo Sardain. Edoardo Melindo (Jr.-Torino, Italy) and George Russell (Jr.-Lymington, England) followed by doubling up
Ben Adey and
Evangelo Kapothanasis, 6-3, at No. 2.
Closing out the doubles victory for the Mocs, Hunter Nussbaum (So.-Tampa, Fla.) and Ryan Rajakar (Gr.-Norkomis, Fla.) defeated
Nicolas Ozer and
James Sacco in the No. 3 slot.
