BOSTON -- The Bates women's track and field team sent a number of athletes to Sunday's New England Small College Invite, hosted by Middlebury at the TRACK at New Balance.
Bates turned in quite a few strong performances at the non-scoring meet, which featured a field of all NESCAC schools.
Meet Highlights
- Junior captain Carli Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) won the weight throw with a top effort of 52-8 (16.05m).
- Sophomore Alannah Ardrey (New York City) surged up to fifth on the Bates all-time performance list in the indoor triple jump with her top effort of 36-3.5 (11.06m), which was good for fourth place at the meet. She also impressed in the high jump, taking fifth place with a top clearance of 4-11.5 (1.51m).
- First-year Campbell Johnson (Naples, Maine) placed eighth in the high jump with a mark of 4-11.5 (1.51m) and was 16th in the long jump with a personal best distance of 15-5 (4.70m).
- Junior Moriah Scharn (Dunstable, Mass.) qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles with her prelims time of 9.74 seconds. She placed eighth in the event after recording a finals time of 9.94 seconds.
- First-year Juno Rogers (Decatur, Ga.) took ninth in the high jump with a personal record clearance of 4-9.5 (1.46m).
- First-year Madison Alves (Stoneham, Mass.) took 10th in the 60-meter dash in 8.16 seconds and 16th in the 200-meter dash in a personal record time of 26.56 seconds.
- First-year Dara Salka (Somers, Conn.) placed 13th in the 400 meters with a personal record time of 1:01.93.
- Senior Inez Johnson (Bozeman, Mont.) achieved a personal record in the 3,000 meters with her time of 11:22.87.
The Bobcats are back in action this Friday and Saturday at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, held at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.
