LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- The Bates Nordic skiing team competed in the 20K freestyle races Saturday at the St. Lawrence Carnival, held at Mt Van Hoevenberg.
First-year
Greta Hendrickson (Duluth, Minn.) led the way for the Bobcats, finishing in 37th place out of more than 100 competitors in the women's race with her time of 59:49.60 and earning 18 carnival points for Bates. Senior captain
Eva McDonough (Woody Creek, Colo.) and first-year
Finley Feist (Concord, Mass.) rounded out the scoring, taking 61st and 73rd place respectively.
A first-year led the men's team as well, with rookie
Duncan Whitbeck (Salt Lake City, Utah) taking 54th place out of more than 100 competitors with his time of 52:03.60. Whitbeck earned 10 carnival points for Bates. Meanwhile, senior
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) crossed the finish line right after Whitbeck to finish 55th in 52:12.90, picking up nine carnival points. First-year
Sage Grossi (Montpelier, Vt.) rounded out the scoring for the men's team, taking 62nd in 52:56.40.
The Nordic skiing team wraps up the St. Lawrence Carnival Saturday at 10 a.m. when the Bobcats compete in the 7.5K classical technique races.
