CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- No. 19 MIT hosted No. 26 Bates College Friday in regional men's squash action as the host-Engineers tamed the Bobcats by a score of 8-1.

Alec Spiro, playing at his usual No. 1 position, secured the lone win of the evening for the garnet and white as the sophomore captain shut out MIT's Mero Elmarassy, 3-0 (11-7, 12-10, 11-7).

The Bobcats (3-11) close out their regular-season calendar Saturday at 3:00 p.m. with a visit to No. 13 Tufts.
