Ripton, Vt. -- The Bates Nordic skiing teams continued their strong weekend Saturday at the Middlebury Carnival, which doubles as the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships, with four Bobcats placing in the top 30 of the 20K classical technique races.
Senior captain
Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) led the men's team to a sixth-place finish out of 11 schools, taking 20th out of 61 skiers with his time of 52:35.6. He earned 23 carnival points and 11 NCAA points for his efforts. Junior
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) took 22nd in 52:44.9 and first-year
Wyatt Teaford (Peru, Vt.) came in close behind in 24th place with a time of 53:07.6.
On the women's side, senior captain
Olivia Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) paced the Bobcats, taking 24th out of 65 competitors in 1:03:22.9 and earning 22 carnival points to go along with seven NCAA points. Junior
Katie Watt (Concord, N.H.) and senior
Rebecca Feist (Fairlee, Vt.) rounded out the scoring for the women's team in 35th and 41st place respectively.
The Bates Nordic and alpine skiing teams combined for 441 points over the course of the two-day Middlebury Carnival, good for sixth place out of the 14 EISA schools, the best finish at a carnival for the Bobcats since 2020.
Selections for the 2024 NCAA Skiing Championships will be announced Tuesday on ncaa.com.
