HANCOCK, Vt. -- Three Bobcats finished in the top-30 of the giant slalom races Saturday at the Middlebury Snowbowl, wrapping up the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships for the Bates alpine skiing teams.
On the men's side, senior captain
Bo Underhill (Newbury, N.H.) impressed with a 15th-place showing out of 84 competitors, recording a two-run combined time of 1:58.33. Underhill's performance was good for 27 carnival points and 16 NCAA points. Senior captain
Rob Gillis (Guilford, Conn.) just missed finishing in the top 30, taking 34th with a two-run combined time of 1:59.67 and junior
Wyatt Hoffman (Old Lyme, Conn.) rounded out the scoring for the men's team with a mark of 2:00.15, good for 40th place.
Meanwhile, the women's team had two finishers in the top 30, led by sophomore
Caroline Roy (Wellesley, Mass.) who placed 17th out of 76 competitors with her two-run combined time of 2:04.60, earning 25 carnival points and 14 NCAA points. First-year
Juliette Hoder (Stowe, Vt.) came in 24th in 2:05.41 and junior captain
Sequoia Anstine (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) rounded out the scoring for the women's team in 33rd place with her two-run combined time of 2:06.36.
The Bates alpine and Nordic skiing teams combined for 441 points over the course of the two-day Middlebury Carnival, good for sixth place out of the 14 EISA schools, the best finish at a carnival for the Bobcats since 2020.
Selections for the 2024 NCAA Skiing Championships will be announced Tuesday on ncaa.com.
