Juliette Hoder placed 20th out of 84 competitors to lead the Bates alpine skiing team in the slalom Friday at the St. Lawrence Carnival, held at Whiteface Mountain.
Hoder (Stowe, Vt.) recorded a two-run combined time of 1:36.18, earning 23 carnival points and 11 NCAA points. First-year
Regan Clute (Tahoe City, Calif.) continued her strong start to her collegiate career by placing 24th in 1:36.47, earning 21 carnival points and seven NCAA points. Meanwhile, senior
Caroline Roy (Wellesley, Mass.) just missed a top-30 showing, grabbing 31st with a two-run combined time of 1:38.77, enough 15 carnival points.
On the men's side, sophomore
Evan Gramas (Stowe, Vt.) paced the Bobcats by taking 26th place with a two-run combined time of 1:29.56, good for 18 carnival points and five NCAA points. First-year
Caleb Stefanakos (Freeport, Maine) impressed with his two-run combined time of 1:30.84. He finished in 36th place and earned 10 carnival points. Senior captain
Georgie Honeybone (Bellevue, Wash.) rounded out the scoring for the Bobcats in 44th place with a two-run combined time of 1:32.81, enough for seven carnival points.
Combined, the Bates alpine and Nordic skiing teams scored 332.5 points at the St. Lawrence Carnival, good for ninth place out of 14 EISA schools.
The alpine skiing team is back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Dartmouth Carnival.
