LYME CENTER, N.H. -- Sophomore captain
Helena Jankovic turned in a career-best performance and the Bates women's alpine skiing team placed sixth in the slalom, highlighting Saturday's action at the Dartmouth Carnival.
Jankovic (Pittsfield, Mass.) recorded a two-run combined time of 1:48.28, good for 16th place out of 94 skiers. She earned 26 carnival points and 15 NCAA points for her efforts. Junior
Juliette Hoder (Stowe, Vt.) also finished in the top 30, taking 24th place with her two-run combined time of 1:49.47. Hoder picked up 20 carnival points for the Bobcats and earned seven NCAA points. First-year
Meadow Brunelli (Wayland, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Bobcats in 34th place with a mark of 1:51.73, enough for 15 carnival points. Combined, the women tallied 61 carnival points, good for sixth-most out of the 12 EISA schools with alpine skiing teams.
The Bates men's alpine skiing team also produced a top-30 performer on Saturday, with first-year
William Hostetter (Stowe, Vt.) finishing 29th out of 97 competitors with his two-run combined time of 1:46.83. He earned 15 carnival points and two NCAA points. Sophomore
Zac Bower (Truckee, Calif.) took 33rd with his mark of 1:48.19 and first-year
Caleb Stefanakos (Freeport, Maine) was right behind him in 34th with a two-run combined time of 1:48.82.
Combined, the Bates alpine and Nordic skiing teams tallied 261 points over the course of two days at the Dartmouth Carnival, good for 10th place out of 14 schools.
The alpine skiing team is back in action this Friday and Saturday at the UVM Carnival, held at Stowe Mountain Resort.
