Caleb Stefanakos took 21st out of 95 competitors to pace the Bates alpine skiing team in the giant slalom Friday at the Dartmouth Carnival, held at Dartmouth Skiway.
Stefanakos (Freeport, Maine) turned in the best performance of his young collegiate career, racing to the finish in a two-run combined time of 1:58.70, earning 22 carnival points and 10 NCAA points.
Sophomore
Evan Gramas (Stowe, Vt.) joined Stefanakos in the scoring column on the men's team, taking 42nd place with a two-run combined time of 2:00.48, enough for seven carnival points.
On the women's side, junior
Juliette Hoder (Stowe, Vt.) continued her strong start to the season in the GS with a two-run combined time of 2:04.98, good for 27th place out of 95 competitors. Hoder earned 20 carnival points and four NCAA points for her performance.
Combined, the alpine and Nordic skiing teams scored 110 points on Friday, good for 12th place out of 14 EISA schools with one day remaining at the Dartmouth Carnival. The alpine skiing team is back in action Saturday at 9 a.m. when they compete in the slalom.
