WATERVILLE, Maine -- Three Bates Nordic skiers turned in top-30 performances Saturday in the 20K classical technique races at the Colby Carnival, held at Quarry Road Trails.
Senior captain
Olivia Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) led the way, taking 22nd place out of 81 finishers with a time of 1:09:02.5. Cuneo's performance earned the Bobcats 22 carnival points and she picked up nine NCAA points. Senior
Rebecca Feist (Fairlee, Vt.) also turned in a strong performance, coming in 34th in 1:11:33.9, enough for 18 carnival points and an NCAA point. Junior
Katie Watt (Concord, N.H.) rounded out the scoring for the women's team in 45th place, crossing the finish line in 1:13:39.5, and picking up 10 carnival points for Bates.
The men's team had two top-30 finishers, with first-year
Eske Roennau (Snowmass Village, Colo.) taking 24th place in 58:05.7 and senior captain
Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) coming in 28th in 58:33.5. Roennau earned 19 carnival points and eight NCAA points while Schrupp picked up 17 carnival points and five NCAA points. Junior
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) rounded out the scoring in 33rd place with a time of 59:17.6, good for 16 carnival points and one NCAA point.
Over the course of two days, the Bates Nordic and alpine skiing teams combined for 383 points at the Colby Carnival, good for 8th place out of 14 schools.
The Nordic teams are back in action on Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3 when they compete in the Harvard Carnival, held in Craftsbury, Vt.
