CRAFTSBURY, Vt. -- Senior captain
Olivia Cuneo led the Bates Nordic skiing team on Saturday, finishing in 16th place out of 96 competitors in the women's 10K freestyle race at the UVM Carnival.
Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) raced to the finish in 29:54, earning 24 carnival points and 15 NCAA points. Senior
Rebecca Feist (Fairlee, Vt.) finished the race in 31:31, good for 36th place and 16 carnival points. Junior
Katie Watt (Concord, N.H.) rounded out the scoring for the Bates women's team in 51st place, crossing the finish line in 32:36 and earning 13 carnival points.
On the men's side, first-year
Eske Roennau (Snowmass Village, Colo.) led the way, taking 30th place out of 91 competitors in 27:56, good for 17 carnival points and four NCAA points. Fellow rookie
Wyatt Teaford (Peru, Vt.) finished in 37th place in 28:10, earning 15 carnival points, and junior
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) rounded out the scoring for Bates in 47th place, earning 12 carnival points.
Combined over the course of two days, the Bates Nordic teams scored 194 carnival points, good for 10th place. The alpine portion of the UVM Carnival is postponed until Jan. 26 and 27. Meanwhile, both the Nordic and alpine ski teams are in action this Friday and Saturday when they head to the Colby Carnival.
