NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine -- Bates first-year
Leah White raced to the finish in 18:24, capturing first place out of 34 runners in the women's CBB Wave Race Tuesday evening at Pineland Farms.
White (Ann Arbor, Mich.) beat Bowdoin's Lauren Traum by one second in the 5K race, averaging a 6:29 per mile pace along the way.Â
The Bobcats use the Wave Race against Colby and Bowdoin to give some of their younger runners a chance to shine, and White took full advantage.Â
Fellow first-year
Meadow Gregory (Exeter, N.H.) impressed as well, taking 14th place in 19:01 and sophomore
Annie Menden (Helena, Mont.) rounded out the top three for Bates with a time of 19:10, good for 15th.Â
Overall, the Bobcats finished in third place with 66 points.
Bates is back in action on Sunday, September 17 at 12:45pm when the Bobcats host the Bates Invitational at Roy's Disc Golf in Auburn.
