LEWISTON, Maine --
Eli Boesch Dining and
Sophie Martens received the Lindholm Scholar-Athlete Awards, while 87 classmates received Senior Scholar Awards at the eighth annual Bates College Senior Athlete Recognition Ceremony, held Tuesday, May 23 at Alumni Gym.
Eighty-nine student-athletes from the Class of 2023 received the Senior Scholar Award at the ceremony, headed by Boesch Dining (men's cross country and track & field), and Martens (women's soccer), recipients of the 47th Milton L. Lindholm Scholar-Athlete awards as the varsity letter-winning athletes from a men's team and a women's team with the highest cumulative grade point averages.

Nathan Berry (Augusta, Maine) was chosen as this year's senior speaker, and he encouraged his peers to go into the world seeking to change hearts, not minds.

The Bates Senior Scholar Award makes clear the Bates Department of Athletics' commitment to the scholar-athlete ideal. The award honors graduating Bates seniors who have participated in varsity sports for four years and have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above.
