Olivia Cuneo placed 37th out of 65 competitors in the 5K freestyle to pace the Bates Nordic skiing teams Friday at the St. Lawrence Carnival.
Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) raced to the finish in 16:06.7, earning 15 carnival points for the Bobcats. Sophomore
Nina Chosy (Madison, Wis.) landed in the top 50 as well for Bates, taking 49th in 17:00.00, good for 11 carnival points. Senior
Rebecca Feist (Concord, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Bates women in 54th place in 17:36.0, enough for eight carnival points.
On the men's side, junior
Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) led the way for Bates in the 10K freestyle with a time of 28:51.2, good for nine carnival points. Senior captain
Zander Martin (York, Maine) landed in 52nd in 29:11.8, earning eight carnival points, and sophomore
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) rounded out the scoring for Bates in 55th place with a time of 29:16.5, good for six carnival points.
The Bates Nordic and alpine skiing teams combined for 130 points on Friday, 12th out of 14 schools, but just six points out of 10th place.
Bates Nordic is back in action Saturday when the Bobcats compete in the 20K classical technique races.
