Women's Squash Lands CSA Team Championship By Defeating Hamilton, 5-4, in Epps Cup Final

First CSA Title for Bobcats since 2019

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Entering competition with only three wins on the season, #27 Bates College doubled that total in just one weekend as the Bobcats, with a 5-4 defeat of  NESCAC rival, Hamilton College, earned victory in the Epps Cup Final of the 2023 CSA National Collegiate Women's Team Championships.

Sunday's win secures Bates' first CSA team title since 2019 when the garnet and white took home a second-straight Walker Cup ("C" Division).

For the second time this season, it would be the Bobcats escaping with a 5-4 edging of Hamilton as Bates bested the #29 Continentals by an identical score back on Jan. 14 at the Bates Squash Center in Lewiston.

The Bobcats received triumphs from each of their first four lineup positions, starting with 3-0 shutout wins from Andy Martagon (Jr.-Puebla, Mexico) and Aasya Patel (Fy.-Madyha Pradesh, India) at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

Erika Parker (Sr.-San Salvador, El Salvador) proved victorious at No. 3 with a 3-1 finish vs. Eleanor Bailey, while Grace Flaherty (So.-Malvern, Pa.) did the same at No. 4, sending off Hope Worcester in four games.

Victoria Haghighi (Sr.-Bronx, N.Y.)  authored a 3-0 dismissal at No. 5, taking down Hamilton's Zoe Reinert.

Bates closes out team play with an overall record of 6-13 while Hamilton drops to 6-10 overall.

Idle until next month, the Bobcats return to Philadelphia March 3-5, to next compete in the CSA Individual Championships, which will be played at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center.
