DUBLIN, N.H. -- Sophomore
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman and junior captain
Olivia Cuneo led the Bates men's and women's Nordic skiing teams respectively Friday at the Harvard Carnival, held at
Dublin School.
Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) finished in 19th place out of 89 competitors with his time of 30:01.1, good for 26 carnival points and 12 NCAA points. Meanwhile, junior
Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) and senior captain
Zander Martin (York, Maine) rounded out the scoring for the men in 39th and 40th place respectively. Schrupp crossed the finish line in 31:32.4 and Martin in 31:42.9. The Bates men combined for 51 carnival points, good for ninth place.
On the women's side, Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) continued her terrific season by taking 26th place out of 88 competitors in 35:30.5, good for 23 carnival points and seven NCAA points. Sophomore
Eliza Skillings (North Yarmouth, Maine) and first-year
Liza Bell (Putney, Vt.) rounded out the scoring for the women in 50th and 52nd place respectively. Sophomore
Sierra Aponte Clarke (Portland, Maine) actually had the second-best performance for Bates on the day, coming in 49th in 37:39.2, but she was not one of the six designated potential point scorers for the Bobcats.
The Bates men and women combined for 93 carnival points. The alpine skiing teams did not score any points on Friday, so the Bobcats are in 12th place out of 14 schools headed into Saturday's action. The Nordic teams will compete in the 3x5km classical technique relay race, starting at 10am and airing on
ESPN Plus.
