Phoebe Pohl led the way for the Bates women's cross country team, taking eighth place out of 145 runners Saturday at the NESCAC Championships.
Pohl (Wayland, Mass.) crossed the finish line of the 6K race held at the UMass Cross Country Course in 22:38.7. After finishing in 15th place last season, one spot out of All-NESCAC honors, Pohl comfortably turned in a Second Team All-NESCAC performance this year.
Bates placed seventh out of 11 schools overall with 172 points, just four points behind sixth-place Tufts.
Three Bobcats finished in the top 40, with senior captain
Isabel May (Erving, Mass.) taking 28th in 23:25.5 and first-year
Leah White (Ann Arbor, Mich.) crossing the finish line in 37th place with a time of 23:38.1.
The Bobcats are back in action on Saturday, Nov. 11 when they travel to Hopkinton, N.H. for the NCAA East Regionals.
