WATERFORD, Conn. -- Sophomore
Elizabeth Holcombe led the Bates women's cross country team in the "Blue Race" and senior
Jen Coseno paced the Bobcats in the "White Race" Saturday morning at the Connecticut College Invitational.
As a team, the Bobcats scored 204 points in the "Blue Race", which featured each school's top runners, good for eighth place out of 26 teams. In the "White Race", Bates placed fourth out of 16 schools with 118 points, showing off the program's depth.
Holcombe (San Francisco, Calif.) finished in 30th place out of 208 runners in 22:25.5. She was followed in 35th place by senior
Chrissy Aman (Hanover, N.H.), who crossed the finish line in a personal-record 6K cross country time of 22:31.3. Senior captain
Kahryn Cullenberg (Farmington, Maine) also set a personal record, placing 38th in 22:34.3.
Junior
Phoebe Pohl (Wayland, Mass.) made it four runners in the top 50 for Bates, placing 45th in 22:39.6
In the "White Race," Coseno (Sutton, Mass.) landed in the top 10, securing eighth place out of 172 runners in 23:46.8. Junior
Julia White (Orono, Maine) and first-year
Livi Sonne (Bethesda, Md.) both placed in the top 30 with White taking 26th in 24:12.9 and Sonne finishing 29th in a season-best time of 24:24.3.
Bates is back in action in two weeks when the Bobcats travel to Amherst, Mass. for the NESCAC Championships.
