JACKSON, N.H. -- Senior captain
Zander Martin placed 14th out of 86 competitors Saturday in the 20K classic, highlighting the final day of the UNH Carnival for Bates Nordic skiing.
Martin (York, Maine) raced to the finish in 55:57.8, earning 27 carnival points for the Bobcats and 18 NCAA points. Junior
Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) also impressed for the Bates men, taking 33rd in 57:21.5, enough for 15 carnival points. Senior captain
Sam Delamere (Fairbanks, Alaska) rounded out the scoring in 48th place, crossing the finish line in 58:17.9.
On the women's side, junior captain
Olivia Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) led the way in 31st place out of 85 competitors. She crossed the finish line in 1:09:30.6, earning 16 carnival points and two NCAA points. Senior
Rebecca Feist (Concord, Mass.) finished 39th in 1:10:51.4 and first-year
Liza Bell (Putney, Vt.) took 46th in 1:12:07.4 to round out the scoring for the Bates women.
The Nordic and alpine skiing teams combined for 360 points over the course of two days at the UNH Carnival, placing ninth out of 14 teams.
Bates Nordic is back in action Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11 at the Harvard Carnival.
