Jackson, N.H. -- Junior captain
Olivia Cuneo finished in the top 15 and a pair of Bates men's Nordic skiers placed in the top 25 Friday in the 5K freestyle race at the UNH Carnival.
Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) skated to the finish in 13:15.1, grabbing 15th place out of 87 competitors, enough for 26 carnival points and 18 NCAA points. Senior
Rebecca Feist (Concord, Mass.) and sophomore
Nina Chosy (Madison, Wis.) rounded out the scoring for Bates in 40th and 47th place respectively. Feist finished with a time of 14:09, earning 11 carnival points, and Chosy crossed the line in 14:17.9, picking up 10 carnival points.
On the men's side, junior
Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) led the way, crossing the finish line in 11:37.9, picking up 22 carnival points and 11 NCAA points for his 21st place finish out of 87 ski racers. Sophomore
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) was not far behind, landing in 23rd place in 11:39.6, enough for 20 carnival points and nine NCAA points. Senior captain
Zander Martin (York, Maine) rounded out the scoring in 37th place with his time of 11:57.2, earning 10 carnival points.
The Nordic teams combined with the alpine teams for 195 points on day one of the UNH Carnival, good for ninth place out of 14 schools, and just three points behind eighth-place Williams.
