LEWISTON, Maine -- #22 Bates College is back in the win column as the Bobcats held off #26 Hamilton College, 5-4, in women's squash action.
Saturday's victory in the Bates Squash Center snaps a season-long six-match losing streak as the garnet and white go to 2-9 on the year while the Continentals remain winless at 0-5.
The Bobcats received triumphs from each of their first five lineup positions, starting with a 3-0 shutout win (11-4, 11-1, 11-1) from
Andy Martagon (Jr.-Puebla, Mexico) in the No. 1 spot.
Erika Parker (Sr.-San Salvador, El Salvador), who achieved Bates' only victory in Friday's contest vs. #15 Williams, made it two-straight on this day with a 3-0 blanking (11-5, 11-8, 11-2) at No. 3.
Victoria Haghighi (Sr.-Bronx, N.Y.) also authored a 3-0 dismissal (11-6, 11-3, 11-8), taking down Hamilton's Natalie Harrity in the No. 5 slot.
Dropping the first game by an 11-8 score,
Aaysa Patel (Fy.-Madhya Pradesh, India) rallied to win the next three (11-2, 11-2, 11-8) for the 3-1 victory at No. 2 for the Bobcats.
Cordelia Dotson (Sr.-Prides Crossing, Mass.) took three-out-of-four vs. Zoe Reinert at No. 4 (11-7, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8).
Bates will play its third home contest in as many days Sunday at 1:00 p.m. when they will host #17 Middlebury.
