Jillian Richardson won the 5,000 meters and senior captain
Amanda Kaufman won the 100 meter hurdles, highlighting the Tufts Quad Meet for the Bates women's outdoor track and field team.
The meet was interrupted by multiple lightning delays, but the Bobcats persevered and scored 29 points as a team, one back of third-place RPI.
Richardson (Auburn, Maine) and senior
Tara Ellard (Brewster, Mass.) both scored points in the 5K, with Richardson winning in a personal record time of 17:54.23. Ellard finished in fourth with a time of 18:20.96.Â
Kaufman (Somers, Conn.) posted the exact same time in the 100 meters in the prelims, as she did the finals, winning in 15.58 seconds.
Elsewhere, senior captain
Elise Lambert (Amherst, N.H.) placed second in the 800 meters in 2:19.04 and a pair of Bobcats scored points in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Junior
Jordan Wilson (Medfield, Mass.) took second in 11:45.91 and first-year
Olivia Reynolds (Cumberland, Maine) placed third in 11:48.50.
Two Bobcats scored in the 400 meter hurdles as well, with sophomore
Maddie Lee (Providence, R.I.) finishing third in 1:08.08 and senior captain
Rebecca Willis (West Newbury, Mass.) fourth in 1:08.94.
In the throws, junior
Abbey Otterbein (Beverly, Mass.) finished third in the shot put with a top throw of 32-05.75 (9.90m) and fourth in the javelin with a top throw of 89-08 (27.34m).Â
Junior
Alice Cockerham (Kingfield, Maine) and sopomore
Livia Kozick (Portsmouth, N.H.) took fourth in the 200 meters (26.71) and the high jump (4-11.75) respectively.
The Bobcats are back in action this Friday and Saturday when they travel to Saint Joseph's College of Maine for the Monks Invitational.
