NEW ORLEANS -- Seven Bates women's track and field athletes received All-East Region honors as announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
Senior captain
Elise Lambert (Amherst, N.H.) and junior
Jordan Wilson (Medfield, Mass.), who are both headed to
this weekend's NCAA Championships, earned All-Region honors in the 800 meters (2:11.39) and the mile run (5:01.22) respectively.
Sophomore
Chrissy Aman (Hanover, N.H.) joins Lambert as an All-Region honoree in the 800 meters with her top time of 2:18.26.
Junior
Jillian Richardson (Auburn, Maine), an All-American cross country runner, is now an All-Region 3,000-meter runner for Bates, with her fastest time of 9:59.29 ranking just outside the top 20 in the nation.
Senior captain
Amanda Kaufman (Somers, Conn.) earned All-Region honors in the 60-meter hurdles with her season-best time of 9.12 seconds at the Bates Invitational.
The Bates women and men both shined in the multi events this year, with a pair of women earning All-Region honors in the pentathlon. Junior
Abbey Otterbein (Beverly, Mass.) and sophomore
Livia Kozick (Portsmouth, N.H.) delivered strong performances, with Otterbein scoring 2,712 points at DIII New Englands and Kozick scoring 2,601 points.
