LEWISTON, Maine -- Senior captain
Elise Lambert and junior
Jordan Wilson will represent Bates at the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, set for March 11 and 12 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
This is the first NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships since 2019. Lambert (Amherst, N.H.) qualified in the 800 meters for the 2020 indoor championships as a sophomore but the COVID-19 pandemic caused a last minute cancellation. There was no indoor season in 2021.
Nonetheless, Lambert has plenty of experience on the national stage. As a first-year in 2019, she helped the Bates women's track and field team place second in the distance medley relay at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in a team record time of 11:43.51, the best national finish by a relay team in Bates athletics history. She finished fifth in the 800 meters at the 2021 outdoor championships, earning All-America honors.
Lambert will compete in the 800 meters at this year's indoor championships and she is seeded fifth based on her track adjusted time of 2:12.9. Lambert ranks second in Bates history in the 800 meters.
Wilson (Medfield, Mass.) qualifies for the indoor championships for the first time in her career where she will compete in the mile run. She is seeded 18th based on her track adjusted time of 5:04.21. She ranks fourth all time at Bates in the mile.
Both Lambert and Wilson are also members of the women's cross country team, which has competed at the NCAA Championships each of the last three years.
