Cal Schrupp placed 18th in the men's 10K classic and senior captain
Olivia Skillings took 25th in the women's 10K classic to lead the Bates Nordic skiing teams Saturday at the UVM Carnival.
Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) raced to the finish in 29:45.1 for yet another strong performance in what's turning into a breakout year. He earned 25 carnival points and 13 NCAA points for his efforts. First-year
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) returned to his home state in style with a 28th place showing out of 93 collegiate skiers, earning 18 carnival points and four NCAA points with his time of 30:08.1. The Bobcats just finished three top-30 finishes, with junior
Zander Martin (York, Maine) rounding out the Bates scoring in 31st place with a time of 30:15.5, earning 16 carnival points and one NCAA point.
The Bates men combined for 59 carnival points on Saturday and the women combined for 52, giving Bates a two-day total of 212 carnival points, ninth out of 14 EISA schools.
Skillings (Portland, Maine) raced to the finish in 34:41.4 to pace the Bates women, earning 24 carnival points and nine NCAA points. Sophomore
Olivia Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) impressed in her home state, just missing a top-30 showing with a 33rd place finish out of 86 skiers. Cuneo picked up 17 carnival points and one NCAA point with her time of 35:15.0. First-year
Eva McDonough (Aspen, Colo.) rounded out the scoring in 46th place with a time of 36:17.8, earning 11 carnival points.
The alpine races at the UVM Carnival were canceled this weekend. It is not known if they will be made up at some point. The Nordic teams continue their seasons this Friday and Saturday at the Dartmouth Carnival.
