JACKSON, N.H. -- Two Bates women's Nordic skiers and two men's Nordic skiers placed in the top 30 in their respective classical technique races Saturday at the UNH Carnival, which doubles as the NCAA East Regional Championships.
Junior
Zander Martin (York, Maine) led the Bates men's team, finishing 20th out of 63 competitors in the 10K classic, earning 23 carnival points and 11 NCAA points with a time of 28:04.1. Sophomore
Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) raced to the finish in 28:17.9, taking 24th place which was good for 21 carnival points and seven NCAA points. Senior
Henry Raff (Hailey, Idaho) rounded out the scoring in 40th place with a time of 28:49.1, earning 11 carnival points.
On the women's side, sophomore
Olivia Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) led the way, taking 25th place out of 64 competitors with her time of 16:15.2 in the 5K classic, good for 21 carnival points and six NCAA points. Senior captain
Olivia Skillings (Portland, Maine) came in right behind in 27th place with a time of 16:19.7, picking up 20 carnival points and four NCAA points. JuniorÂ
Rebecca Feist (Concord, Mass.) rounded out the scoring in 34th place, earning 14 carnival points with her time of 16:40.5.Â
The UNH Carnival wraps up the 2022 carnival circuit. The NCAA skiing championships are set for March 9-12 in Midway, Utah.Â
