RIPTON, Vt. -- The Bates Nordic teams combined for 122 carnival points, with three Bobcats placing in the top-25 in the classical technique races Friday at the Middlebury Carnival.
Sophomore
Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) led the way in the 10K classic for the men's team, placing 17th out of 78 competitors with a time of 25:47.1, earning 27 carnival points and 15 NCAA points. First-year
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) just missed a top-25 finish, landing in 26th with a time of 26:06.5. For his efforts, Boudreau-Golfman earned the Bobcats 20 carnival points and he picked up seven NCAA points. Senior
Henry Raff (Hailey, Idaho) rounded out the scoring for the men with a strong performance as well, taking 31st in 26:13.5. He picked up 15 carnival points and two NCAA points.
On the women's side, sophomore
Olivia Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) paced the Bobcats, taking 20th out of 73 competitors with a time of 14:33.4 in the 5K classic. Cuneo earned 25 carnival points and 11 NCAA points. Senior captain
Olivia Skillings (Portland, Maine) finished in 22nd place, picking up 23 carnival points and nine NCAA points with a time of 14:39.3. First-year
Eva McDonough (Aspen, Colo.) rounded out the scoring in 39th place with a time of 15:20.8, earning 12 carnival points.
The Bates Nordic teams return to action Saturday when they compete in the freestyle races. The alpine skiing teams had their slalom race canceled due to high winds. They are set to compete in the giant slalom on Saturday.
