Olivia Skillings and sophomore
Olivia Cuneo both recorded top-30 times to lead the Bates Nordic skiing team Saturday in the 10K freestyle at the Dartmouth Carnival.
Skillings (Portland, Maine) led all Bobcats with a 27th place finish in the women's race out of 86 competitors, crossing the finish line in 35:20.3, good for 22 carnival points and eight NCAA points. Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) came in close behind Skillings in 30th place with a time of 35:26.6, earning 20 carnival points and five NCAA points. First-year
Eva McDonough (Aspen, Colo.) rounded out the scoring for the women's team with a 52nd place finish, crossing the line in 37:27.6 and picking up 11 carnival points.
On the men's side, three Bobcats just missed top-30 finishes. First-year
Mathias Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) led the way, finishing 31st out of 90 competitors in 29:00.4 and earning the Bobcats 15 carnival points. Junior
Zander Martin (York, Maine) took 34th in 29:13.6, good for 13 carnival points. Junior
Eli Grossman (South Burlington, Vt.) rounded out the scoring for the men's team with a 37th place finish, crossing the line in 29:24.6 and picking up 12 carnival points.
The Bates Nordic and alpine skiing teams combined for 410 carnival points, good for eighth out of 14 EISA schools. The skiing teams return to action this Friday and Saturday at the Middlebury Carnival.
