HUNTINGTON, Vt. -- Sophomores
Cal Schrupp and
Olivia Cuneo both recorded top-30 performances to pace Bates Nordic skiing Saturday in the 5K Classic at the Saint Michael's Carnival.
Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) turned in the best race of his collegiate career, finishing 15th out of 90 competitors with a time of 13:19.5, earning 27 carnival points and 16 NCAA points. Junior
Zander Martin (York, Maine) took 47th place in 13:48.7 and senior
Henry Raff (Hailey, Idaho) finished 50th in 13:52.5 to round out the scoring for the men's team, earning 11 and 10 carnival points respectively.
Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) finished in the top 30 for the first time in her career, taking 28th out of 84 women with a time of 16:01.0. Senior captain
Olivia Skillings (Portland, Maine) just missed a top 30 showing, finishing 31st in 16:07.3 and earning 17 carnival points and three NCAA points. Junior
Rebecca Feist (Concord, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Bates women by placing 44th in 16:29.0, earning 11 carnival points.
The Bates Nordic and alpine skiing teams combined for 370 carnival points, good for ninth out of 14 schools.
The Bobcats return to carnival action Feb. 4 and 5 at the UVM Carnival.
