Senior captain Luca Polgar (Budapest, Hungary) and junior Maeve O'Brien (Essex, Conn.) went 2-0 on the day for the Bobcats, who were the No. 4 seed in the championship. Polgar sports a record of 14-1 in this season, playing all her matches at the top of the lineup. She topped her Panther opponent Ideal Dowling 11-2, 11-4, 11-4 at the No. 1 spot. O'Brien earned a 3-1 victory (11-3, 7-11, 11-6, 11-7) over Natalie Madden at No. 4. Middlebury, the No. 5 seed in the championship, earned victories at No. 2 and 3 and Nos. 5 through 9 to secure the victory.

The Bobcats swept the Polar Bears, the No. 8 seed, 3-0 at every spot in the lineup. Polgar defeated Caroline Glaser 11-1, 11-3, 11-4 at No. 1. First-year Erika Parker (San Salvador, El Salvador) won 11-8, 11-6, 11-5 over Clio Bersani at the No. 2 spot. Junior Katie Manternach (Brooklyn, N.Y.) topped Ursula Sze 11-5, 11-9, 12-10 at No. 3, and at No. 4, O'Brien cruised to a 11-3, 11-0, 11-4 win over Sophie Barber. First-year Ella Lungstrum (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won 11-2, 11-7, 11-8 against Melissa Horan at No. 5. At No. 6, sophomore Natasha Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) secured a 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 win over Maya Chandar-Kouba. First-year Victoria Haghighi (Bronx, N.Y.) defeated Lucy Noel 11-3, 11-6, 11-2 at No. 7. First-year Cordelia Dotson (Houston, Texas) topped Caroline Burkhart 11-9, 11-7, 11-5 at No. 8, and sophomore Natalie Bachman (New Canaan, Conn.) logged an 11-2, 11-4, 11-1 victory over Catherine Adams at No. 9.

Bates (11-4) is back in action on Sunday, Feb. 9, at the NESCAC Championships when the Bobcats take on the winner of the No. 20 Wesleyan vs. No. 19 Tufts consolation match being played tonight.
