NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Bates women's squash team lost 9-0 to Williams College in the Kurtz Cup consolation semifinals at Yale University today.
The Bobcats, who are nationally-ranked No. 16 and are the eight seed in the B Division of the College Squash Association Team Championships, are now 12-6 this season. Williams, the No. 13 team in the nation and the No. 5 seed in the B Division, is now 17-8 this year.
The Ephs won 3-0 at Nos. 1-5 and 7-9 to secure the win. At No. 6, first-year Victoria Haghighi (Bronx, N.Y.) dropped her first game 11-8 to Williams' Abigail LeBlanc. Haghighi battled back for an 11-5 win in game two, but dropped the next two games 11-4, 11-7.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Feb. 23 when they take on George Washington or Middlebury depending upon the outcome of their consolation semifinal this afternoon at 1 p.m.
