LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 17 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team needed only the minimum 27 games to sweep rival and 25th-ranked Colby 9-0 Wednesday night at the Bates Squash Center.
Bates (8-3) defeated Colby (2-6) for the 19th straight meeting between the NESCAC and in-state rivals.
Senior captain Luca Polgar (Budapest, Hungary) rose to 10-1 with her 3-0 victory over Mariam Mansoor at the No. 1 position. Following her on the ladder with 3-0 wins were first-year Erika Parker (San Salvador, El Salvador) at 2, junior Maeve O'Brien (Essex, Conn.) at 3, junior Katie Manternach (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at 4, first-year Ella Lungstrum (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at 5, sophomore Natasha Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) at 6, first-year Victoria Haghighi (Bronx, N.Y.) at 7, first-year Cordelia Dotson (Houston, Texas) at 8, and sophomore Natalie Bachman (New Canaan, Conn.) at the ninth spot.
Bates remains at home Thursday to host No. 15 Middlebury at 6pm.
