BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The nationally-ranked No. 17 Bates College women's squash team dropped its match to No. 16 Amherst 6-3 at the Heights Casino Annex in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The Mammoths improve to 3-2 overall and the Bobcats are now 7-3 this season. Amherst logged wins at Nos. 2 and 3 and 6 through 9 to secure the victory.
Senior Luca Polgar earned a victory for Bates at the No. 1 spot. She defeated Daksha Pathak in five games (11-8, 11-7, 5-11, 8-11, 18-16). Polgar is now 9-1 at No. 1 this season. Junior Katie Manternach defeated Caroline Conway at the No. 4 spot (11-5, 11-9, 11-6), and first-year Ella Lungstrum topped Pierson Klein in a five-game match at the No. 5 spot (9-11, 11-8, 5-11, 11-8, 11-4).
The Bobcats are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 22, when they host Colby at 6 p.m.
