No. 29 women's squash beats No. 20 Wesleyan 7-2

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The No. 29 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team hit the road Wednesday and defeated No. 20 Wesleyan by a count of 7-2, sweeping a pair of matches in the victory. 

Sophomore captain Eliza Dunham (New Haven, Conn.) moved up to the No. 4 position and won again for Bates (3-5), sweeping her way past Wesleyan's Josie Russ by a score of 3-0 (11-3, 11-7, 11-5) and improving her individual record to 4-0 this year. First-year Maeve O'Brien (Essex, Conn.) also earned a sweep against the Cardinals (5-4), beating Natasha Feenstra 3-0 (11-2, 11-1, 11-2) in an impressive performance at the No. 5 position. 

The most dramatic match the of delay belonged to junior Katie Bull (Sudbury, Mass.); she pulled out a 3-2 (11-7, 12-10, 7-11, 4-11, 11-8) win at the No. 8 position over the Cardinals' Ali Imperiale, who rallied from two games down only to have Bull bounce back to win the fifth and deciding game. 

Junior captain Vicky Arjoon (Georgetown, Guyana) moved up to the No. 2 position and won 3-1 (11-6, 5-11, 11-9, 11-8) over Wesleyan's Aditi Prasad. Fellow junior Kristyna Alexova (Boskovice, Czech Republic) earned a 3-1 (11-3, 5-11, 11-9, 11-5) victory over Ananya Vir at the No. 3 position.

First-year Katie Manternach (Brooklyn, N.Y.) improved her record to 6-2 on the season with a 3-1 (11-2, 11-3, 7-11, 11-9) win over Nina Premutico at the No. 6 position and junior Molly Brooks (Charlottesville, Va.) moved up to the No. 7 position, ralling to win 3-1 (7-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-1) over the Cardinals' Tatum Leclair.

Bates is back in action on Wednesday, January 24 when the Bobcats host Colby at 6:00 p.m.
