Eliza Dunham picked up a win as well but number 11 nationally ranked Williams College defeated the Bates women's squash team 7-2 Sunday afternoon.
Polgar (Budapest, Hungary) continues to thrive at the No. 2 position in her first year as a Bobcat. Her win on Sunday increases her personal winning streak to seven matches. She defeated the Ephs' Hayley Parsons 3-1 (5-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-7) at the number two position. Meanwhile Dunham (New Haven, Conn.) ran her record to 7-2 on the year and increased her winning streak to five matches, defeating Alyssa Ritchie 3-0 (11-7, 11-8, 12-10) at the No. 5 position.
Elsewhere, sophomore Kristyna Alexova (Boskovice, Czech Republic) battled hard at the No. 1 position before falling in five games to the Ephs' Nicole Friedman 3-2 (11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9). Senior co-captain Emma Dunn (Bellevue, Wash.) also took her opponent to five games before falling just short 3-2 (1-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-8, 11-4) against Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra at the No. 4 position.
The Bobcats look to bounce back this Saturday, January 14 when they take on Hamilton at the Bates College Squash Center. The match gets started at noon with senior day festivities honoring the Bobcats' three seniors taking place before the match.
