JACKSON, N.H. -- Senior Laurel Fiddler, first-year Kaelyn Woods and senior captain Halie Lange all earned NCAA points in the women's 5K classical technique race Friday at the UNH Carnival.
The Bobcat women finished in sixth place out of 13 teams with 62 carnival points while the Bobcat men finished in ninth place out of 13 teams in the 10K classical technique race, accumulating 42 carnival points.
Fiddler (Crowley Lake, Calif.) continued her strong start to the season by finishing in 16th place out of 97 racers, good for 25 carnival points and 15 NCAA points.
Woods (New Gloucester, Maine) finished in 26th place, just in front of Lange (Brattleboro, Vt.), who finished in 27th, earning 19 and 18 carnival points respectively.
Junior Parker McDonald (Wolcott, Colo.) paced the men's team with a 35th place finish out of 90 racers, good for 17 carnival points. First-year Forrest Hamilton (Shelburne, Vt.) finished not too far behind, in 40th place, good for 13 carnival points.
First-year Graham Houtsma (Aspen, Colo.) rounded out the scoring for the men with a 45th place finish and 12 carnival points.
Combined, the Bobcat Nordic and alpine skiing teams finished day one of the UNH Carnival with 202 points, good for eighth out of 16 teams. They are currently 38 points behind Williams for seventh and hold a 32-point lead over Saint Michael's entering the final day of competition in the UNH Carnival.
