GENEVA, N.Y. -- The No. 18 Bates women's squash team swept all seven of their victorious matches Sunday in a 7-2 victory over No. 26 William Smith to conclude the regular season.
A planned match with Hamilton later in the day was cancelled due to travel issues so the Bobcats finish the 2015-2016 regular season with a 9-10 record.
Bates will head to New Haven, Connecticut on Feb. 19-21 to participate in the College Squash Association Team Championships. What division they'll play in at the team championships will be determined later this week.
First-year Kristyna Alexova (Boskovice, Czech Republic) dominated at the No. 1 position to win her ninth consecutive match. She defeated Cashel McCarthy 3-0 (11-3, 11-1, 11-2).
Fellow first-year Vicky Arjoon (Georgetown, Guyana) continued her strong play at the No. 2 position with a 3-0 (11-5, 11-6, 11-5) win over Michaelann Denton.
The trio of captains: Emma Dunn '17 (Bellevue, Wash.), Lauren Williams '16 (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) and Charlotte Cabot '17 (Dover, Mass.) won yet again, continuing their strong play from the NESCAC Championships.
Dunn beat Delaney Teceno at the No. 4 position 3-0 (11-5 11-4, 11-8). Williams handled Peyton Capute at the No. 5 position 3-0 (11-2, 11-4, 11-4) and Cabot swept Anna Worcester 3-0 (11-6, 11-3, 11-8) at the No. 6 position.
The Bobcats' depth continues to impress as well with Molly Brooks '19 (Charlottesville, Va.) and Blair Weintraub '18 (New York, N.Y.) winning in straight sets at the No. 8 and 9 positions respectively.
