HARTFORD, Conn. -- Sophomores
Katie Bull and
Molly Brooks picked up wins at the No. 7 and No. 8 positions respectively Saturday but the No. 16 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team fell to No. 3 nationally ranked Trinity by a score of 7-2.
Bull (Sudbury, Mass.) won for the second straight match to start the year and is one win away from matching her victory total from last season. She defeated the Bantams' Phoebe Carlisle 3-0 (11-3, 11-2, 11-5) at the No. 7 position. This marks the second straight year the Bobcats (1-1) have defeated the Bantams (2-0) at the No. 7 position, with Lauren Williams '16 (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) winning last year in four games.
Brooks (Charlottesville, Va.) won her second straight match to start the year as well, defeating Brice Rothenberg 3-0 (11-5, 11-9, 11-4) at the No. 8 position.
Bates' two wins over national powerhouse Trinity on Saturday is their most wins in one contest against the Bantams since 2010.
Every match on Saturday was decided in three games. The only game decided by less than four points was Brooks' 11-9 win over Rothenberg in game two of their match.
The Bobcats remain in Hartford to take on No. 29 nationally ranked Connecticut College Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
