LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 18 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team defeated No. 20 Colby on Wednesday night at the Bates Squash Center, as senior captain
Lauren Williams picked up another victory on her senior night.
Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe), Bates' only senior, defeated Camilla Di Galoma in straight sets, 11-9, 11-1, 11-3, at the No. 5 position to pick up one of the Bobcats' first points of the match.
First-years
Kristyna Alexova (Boskovice, Czech Republic) and
Victoria Arjoon (Georgetown, Guyana) won points for Bates at the top two positions on the ladder, with Alexova taking down Devin Mullaney in straight sets and Arjoon winning 3-1. Classmate
Katie Bull (Sudbury, Mass.) was a 3-1 winner at No. 4, while junior captain
Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass.) won 3-0 at No. 6 and sophomore
Blair Weintraub (New York, N.Y.) won 3-1 at No. 8.
Colby (6-6) won points at positions 3, 7 and 9, thanks to Helen Bernard, Caroline Pelham and Lily Wain, respectively.
Bates (4-8) will host two final home matches on Saturday, taking on the University of Virginia at 11:30am before playing NESCAC rival Connecticut College at 2pm.
