WATERVILLE, Maine -- Senior
Nessrine Ariffin of 16th-ranked Bates won an important 13-11 game to start the match on the way to a 3-0 victory over Colby's Devin Mullaney in NESCAC women's squash on Wednesday, and the Bobcats rolled to a 7-2 victory at Colby.
Bates moved to 9-8 overall and the Mules are 9-9.
Bates swept the first seven positions on the ladder. Senior
Myriam Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) won 3-0 at two and senior
Lesea Bourke (Greenwich, Conn.) took a 3-0 victory at the third spot. Sophomore
Emma Dunn (Bellevue, Wash.), senior
Chloe Mitchell (Chatham, N.J.), sophomore
Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass.), and junior
Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) also won matches for the Bobcats.
Elise O'Brien was a 3-0 winner at eight and Caroline Pelham took a 3-1 win at the ninth spot for Colby, which is ranked 21st.
Bates travels to the NESCAC Squash Championship this weekend at Williams. The Bobcats are the fourth seed and will face fifth seed Amherst on Saturday at 9:30am, with the winner to face top-seeded Trinity in the semifinals.
