LEWISTON, Maine -- No. 6 nationally ranked Trinity College defeated the No. 15 Bates women's squash team 8-1 on Saturday in the Bobcats' home opener at the Bates Squash Center.
The visiting Bantams (1-1), who were national finalists last season, picked up their first victory by sweeping eight of nine individual matches from the Bobcats by 3-0 scores.Â
Bates (1-4) fielded first-year players at the top seven positions on its ladder. The Bobcats' season resumes in January, when they expect a return to the lineup from junior captains

Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) scored Bates' lone point at No. 7, where she spotted Jillian Davey the first set and swept the next three to win 7-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8.
Bates will next play Middlebury on Jan. 8 at 6pm to begin the Maine Round Robin.
