BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bates women's squash team fell 5-4 at rival Bowdoin on Friday night, as the Polar Bears swept positions 3 through 6 and picked up a fifth point at the ninth spot on the ladder.
Bates first-year Kristyna Alexova (Boskovice, Czech Republic) won in straight sets at the No. 1 position over Sarah Nelson, while fellow rookie Vicky Arjoon (Georgetown, Guyana) won 3-1 at the No. 2 spot. Bates senior captain Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) and sophomore Blair Weintraub (New York, N.Y.) each won handily at 7 and 8, respectively.
Bates hosts sixth-ranked NESCAC rival Trinity in the Bobcats' home opener Saturday at noon at the Bates Squash Center (56 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston).
